05/09/18 Fitness by Jacflash ‘Mother’s Day’ Power Yoga Workshop with Kay Ghajar and My Sister Meagan Wilson!

We hosted this special Fitness by Jacflash yoga workshop in celebration of Mother's Day, with 100% of proceeds being donated to Sistering. Our goal was for women to bring their mothers, their mentors, best friends, or any other woman who has made a positive impact on their life. For this reason, it was a perfect fit to donate to Sistering, a multi-service agency aimed at supporting women in Toronto facing poverty, marginalization, and homelessness. Women at sistering are battling a range of difficulties including mental health problems, substance abuse, run-ins with the criminal justice system, lack of access due to immigrant/refugee status, and more. At Sistering, a small team of women work tirelessly to offer a 24/7 drop-in, that provides shelter, hot meals, crisis intervention, harm reduction, and trauma-informed counselling services. They also make referrals for housing, health, and legal and immigration services.

This workshop took place on Wednesday, May 9th 7-9pm at The Costume House, located at 165 Geary Avenue. Yoga mats were provided for use for the evening by The Local lululemon. Sponsors for this workshop include: Rawcology coconut chips, BamBoo Roots bamboo toothbrushes, Soapstones Rosewater facial cream, and Evelyn Iona green tea primer. Raffle prizes were a gorgeous set of roses donated by Melissa Andre Blooms and a beautiful set of eco-friendly leather dreamcatcher earrings from Chic Made Consciously.

Our speaker for this workshop was my sister, Meagan Wilson. As she’s an eminent inspiration and role model in my life, and I felt honoured that she came and shared with us for this special Mother’s Day workshop, especially since my own mother was unable to make it! Meagan spoke to us about connecting with our core values, allowing us time to journal and reflect on our own values before we shared with each other.

As always, we had Kay Ghajar lead a power yoga session for the group. This time around, there was a special emphasis on partner exercises and poses so we could really connect and have a blast with our motherly figures.

We also had our three assistant yoga instructors available, providing hands-on assists. In addition, we had artist @officialchillgirl (Alex) doing live painting during the workshop, and Holly from The Ten Spot giving free five-minute massages!

We love announcing our raffle winners at the end of each workshop!

Jacflash Trends: Lace Bustier

The crop top seems to be a piece that women wear to show off their amazing abs, but if you don't feel comfortable baring your belly, don't fret- this lace bustier creates an illusion to refocus the eye to the most appealing, and smallest, part of your waist. A modernized take on a crop top that we love is the lace bustier which was originated from the structured look of a form-fitting corset.

You can shop the lace bustier trend here at jacflash.net.

We suggest pairing it with high waisted pants/shorts with a cute leather or bomber jacket or with a great skirt, like the Jacflash Black Tulle Skirt or the Jacflash Mesh Black Slit Pencil Skirt for the perfect GNO!

Jacflash, Lace Bralette $45, available here.
