"A Day in the Life" with Jaclyn Genovese, published in the Toronto Guardian!

We had so much fun reading this feature on Jacflash founder, Jaclyn Genovese, in the Toronto Guardian. The article discusses Jaclyn’s career trajectory, upcoming projects, and is full of photos that give a glimpse into her everyday life!

Spaces By Jacflash transforms Youtube star Ask Kimberly, Kimberly Moffit's living and dining room into a traditional yet chic space for her and her family

Spaces By Jacflash transformed Youtube star Ask Kimberly, Kimberly Moffit's living and dining room into a traditional yet chic space for her and her family.

Prior to Kimberly's Spaces by Jacflash's makeover, she had her old condo furniture throughout the room. This Matching, beige leather set which had no real theme, added no warmth and did not quite fit the space.

We then chose a traditional, bright and glamorous style. We did this by bringing in different metallics to add glamour as well as add different textures with  throw pillows.

We also added brass console tables on either side of the fireplace.

We swapped out her old leather sofa with a lavish, velvet, cream, tufted sofa.

And layered two rugs to add more depth and warmth to the space.

Instead of a coffee table, we opted for a large ottoman that opens for storage.

And took a basic storage unit and jazzed it up with brass, bone handles for her daughter's toy storage.

In the dining room, we used her table and chair set and tied in the acrylic from the tray on the ottoman with the acrylic legs on the dining room bench.

We finally swapped out the rustic chandelier for the brass sputnik pendant to add charm into the space.

We had so much fun working on this project with Kimberly and her family, look out for our youtube video on the entire process in the next couple of days!

Spaces By Jacflash transforms Rachel David's quirky living room into a sophisticated living space

Spaces by Jacflash amped up our newest client and my good friend Rachel David's quirky condo into a more sophisticated and put-together living space. (@racheldavid)

We found inspiration from eclectic, traditional spaces. Every piece we chose serves more than one purpose and can live in her home for years.

Our favourite element is the fireplace. This unique built-in has a large mantel and shelving tucked away in the corner, but was originally a dated maple wood. We sanded and painted it —along with the window ledges— white, to brighten and update the room.

The 'brick' we used around the fireplace is a porcelain tile that serves to make the mantle look more finished.

With a smaller budget, we had to get creative and use our resources appropriately. Many of the pieces we purchased were inexpensive, and often antiques. We had our first visit to the Hamilton Antique Mall, which is a hidden gem for affordability. The other more modern pieces like the sofa and coffee table were purchased from Ikea.

The plethora of paintings Rachel inherited from her grandmother were a major treat. She had so many to choose from; our role was to curate them in a more effective way. Instead of having the large pieces scattered around her apartment, we created a gallery wall above the couch. This living room looks so bright and colourful, but the only actual source of colour is in the art and accessories, which we love.

Finishing touches like curtains and plants really make this living room feel like it has been put together over time and fits our client's lifestyle and personality. This project was such a success that Rachel has decided to re-do her kitchen with us next!

Invisible Outlets

Steering away from the traditional bulky and visually obstructive outlets, invisible outlets are a design solution that refrain from the aesthetic and flow of your space being compromised.

The aesthetic is flush and rimless, seamlessly blending with the interior.

They can be faux finished, painted, wallpapered or laminated.

We are currently installing invisible outlets in a client's bathroom, it runs flush with the wall. By covering it with the same white marble as the wall, we are able to achieve this seamless, "invisible" look.

There are many different options regarding ways to finish the outlet such as painting, or adding wallpaper, that are surprisingly affordable as well!
