Spaces by Jacflash recently transformed Blake Carter’s small, dysfunctional townhouse into a chic and airy living space. Our goal was to incorporate prints, colours, and textures that reflected Blake’s personality and that every piece of furniture would serve a useful purpose. Check out this video for a closer look at our design process and Blake’s opinion of her new space!

Spaces By Jacflash transformed Youtube star Ask Kimberly, Kimberly Moffit's living and dining room into a traditional yet chic space for her and her family.
Prior to Kimberly's Spaces by Jacflash's makeover, she had her old condo furniture throughout the room. This Matching, beige leather set which had no real theme, added no warmth and did not quite fit the space.
We then chose a traditional, bright and glamorous style. We did this by bringing in different metallics to add glamour as well as add different textures with throw pillows.
We also added brass console tables on either side of the fireplace.
We swapped out her old leather sofa with a lavish, velvet, cream, tufted sofa.
And layered two rugs to add more depth and warmth to the space.
Instead of a coffee table, we opted for a large ottoman that opens for storage.
And took a basic storage unit and jazzed it up with brass, bone handles for her daughter's toy storage.
In the dining room, we used her table and chair set and tied in the acrylic from the tray on the ottoman with the acrylic legs on the dining room bench.
We finally swapped out the rustic chandelier for the brass sputnik pendant to add charm into the space.
We had so much fun working on this project with Kimberly and her family, look out for our youtube video on the entire process in the next couple of days!
Fitness by Jacflash's Power Yoga Women’s Workshop with Yoga Instructor Kay Ghajar and Zero Waste Event Coordinator Sophi Robertson
Last Tuesday we hosted another amazing yoga workshop!
At all of our workshops, all levels are welcomed and encouraged!
Yoga mats were provided for use for the evening by The Local Lululemon.
Our instructor Kay Ghajar (@kayghajar) has been practicing yoga for almost 10 years. She began exploring different styles of yoga after taking courses in positive psychology, which informed on the benefits of yoga and meditation. After a traumatic life event in university and failed progression through traditional counselling, she started practicing yoga and keeping a gratitude jar, which began her healing process and changed her outlook on life.
Kay received her 200-hour teaching certificate at Power Yoga Canada and will lead us through an amazing Power Yoga session. Her detailed, descriptive instruction and high energy makes the class exciting, comprehendible and achievable for the women in the class who are all at different levels.
Zero Waste Lifestyle Influencer- Sophi Robertson
Sophi is the Zero Waste Event Coordinator for the Toronto Tool Library. She has been striving to live a waste less lifestyle with her family of three since 2016. She documents her journey on social media as @YourEcoFriend.
At the workshop, Sophi helped us find simple and accessible solutions to reach our eco lifestyle goals.
She also spoke to us about Furoshiki- Japanese art of cloth wrapping.
We learned how to cloth wrap gifts beautifully without tape or any waste. The wrapping becomes part of the recipient’s gift so that they can reuse the cloth themselves or for another gift. We’ll cover hard to wrap gifts like wine bottles and toys. This can also be applicable for transporting other items such as food.
Extra special thank you to our assistant yoga instructors walking around, giving everyone one on one love, answering any questions and helping us in our poses!
The retro off white Caloric fridge was our jumping off point. Its tall but slim frame gave us the option of adding more storage in between the oven. Taking away the upper hanging cabinets above the sink made the entire room open concept, and reducing the bar-top to a level island gave so much more space for entertaining. Adding a microwave above the oven with a built in hood also gave us much more counter space, which was one of our client's main requests.
Using quartz is a great way to get a high end marble look, for a fraction of the price. Using quartz is also much more resistant material, and will not stain or chip as easily as a natural stone. These Ikea cabinets were a huge cost saver. The style we chose has a built in finger channel which reduced the need for hardware. Splurging on items like the fridge, counter and lighting, make this kitchen look more extravagant without the price tag of a custom kitchen. The light was a modern take on a retro inspired Sputnik light, that also fit perfectly in this galley style layout. It has a dramatic presence from both the entrance and dining room. The chrome finish ties in with the new sink faucet, and handles on the fridge.
Continuing the concept of eclectic style was a challenge in such a small space, but keeping the main pieces white and bright allowed us to get playful with accessories like the sage green clock, the linen towels, small rag rug, and wooden cutting boards. Luckily our client already had a beautiful wooden table, so we paired it with some Mid-Century inspired dining chairs in a salt and pepper fabric and chrome legs to in the dining room and kitchen.
